Start with the question a reader might actually ask, then explain what is surprising or revealing about its answer. A good proposal has a distinct subject, a clear route through the explanation and a reason the reader will see the familiar differently afterward. Keep claims proportionate to the available evidence.

Subjects and style

We consider pitches about natural patterns, objects, language, customs and time. The best pieces make specialist ideas understandable without flattening their nuance. We do not seek unsupported origin stories, promotional copy or claims that require readers to rely on professional advice.
